The main voice actor for Bayonetta, Jennifer Taylor, went on Twitter to express her dissatisfaction with the game and warn fans to stay away from it once it releases. She even encouraged fans to show their support by making charitable contributions instead of buying Bayonetta 3. According to a tweet by Taylor, she was only offered $4,000 by Platinum to voice Bayonetta for the entire game. Platinum Games responded by detailing the payment schedule and Helena’s history at the company, including their attempts to re-hire her despite her denials. At least five attempts were made by Platinum Games to hire Taylor for at least four hours of studio sessions at a rate of $3,000 to $4,000. At that rate, the actor would make at least $15,000. Jennifer Hale, the voice actor who replaced Taylor, responded to a fan’s tweet about her replacement by saying that, due to her NDA, she was unable to provide any specifics. Nonetheless, she did state the following: “I sincerely ask that everyone keep in mind that this game has been created by an entire team of hard-working, dedicated people and I hope everyone will keep an open mind about what they’ve created.” After this debacle, fans took opposing sides, casting a shadow over the game’s release; PlatinumGames has issued a statement to finally put this to rest.

In addition, it requests that players and the gaming community at large refrain from making any remarks that could be construed as disrespectful against Hale or any of the other contributors. The main team or the individuals that have worked on this game have nothing to do with this whole fiasco, and according to Hale too, it is best if these disputes are sorted privately, so maybe this can be resolved after this and the launch can go smoothly, and the game can be enjoyed by all. Bayonetta 3 releases this month on October 28th.
