Still, it didn’t hit the preferable 60 FPS mark consistently. They also confirmed that the performance toggle is missing from the game. Interestingly, there was no mention of the platform on which the game was completed, aka PS5 or Xbox Series X.  If this user is to be believed, the rumors surrounding the lack of 60FPS are untrue and perhaps a day-one patch can help mitigate the insane performance requirements of the game, just enough to hit that framerate.

Yesterday, we reported that the highly-anticipated game Gotham Knights from Warner Bros. Montreal is not offering any performance mode on consoles, and will be locked at 30 FPS. A piece of similar news has broken out today for yet another game fans are eagerly looking forward to.  A Plague Tale: Requiem will also be skipping dedicated performance mode on consoles, causing it to stay locked at 30 FPS on even the latest PS5 and Xbox Series X. This is quite the shock for those who were excited to finally get their hands on the game after months of insane hype. The reason for this hype is its critically acclaimed predecessor, A Plague Tale: Innocence, an award-winning game that lets you experience 14th Century war-torn France. The main element of the game is its stunning visuals, stealth-oriented gameplay, and how can we forget about the hordes of rates that would scour your enemies within seconds leaving only their skeletons behind.  With the same core values in mind, Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment announced the game’s sequel, A Plague Tale: Requiem, in June 2022. The sequel was positioned as a true next-gen title with high production values that would take advantage of next-gen hardware in a way very few games do currently. The true next-gen tag made the sequel get even more hyped. However, today, a Spanish gamer @eXtas1stv ,who got his hands on the game early, took to Twitter and revealed that A Plague Tale: Requiem is missing out on performance mode on all consoles and might be capped at 30 FPS.

The leaker also shared a screenshot in his Tweet showing the graphics tab in the game which only comprises of two options; ‘Motion Blur’ and ‘Chromatic Aberration’ (translated to English). This got somewhat mixed reactions from the fans with some saying that this is the right move to accommodate the improved graphics including the massive hordes of individually-rendered rats, of which up to 300,000 are said to present on the screen at the same time. On the other hand, some fans are criticizing this decision citing reasons like ‘not utilizing the full potential’ of the latest hardware. Undoubtedly, A Plague Tale: Requiem is a hardware-hungry game; it requires RTX 3070 for optimal 1080p performance, which is many levels up from the GTX 970 recommended for its predecessor.  Not only do the PC requirements, but the trailers of A Plague: Requiem clearly show the improved visuals and mechanics. And, now, PC is apparently the only platform that will run the game on 60FPS and 1080p resolution simultaneously. A Plague Tale: Requiem is only a day away and will be released on 18th October 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, along with Nintendo Switch via cloud gaming services. No other source has corroborated or confirmed this FPS lock rumor other than the original source (@eXtas1stv), so take this one with a grain of salt.  How these changes affect the actual gameplay will only be observed once the game has been released publicly. If this rumor doesn’t get a confirmation from the developers like Gotham Knights got yesterday, it might just get patched right before the launch or via a Day 1 update.
