During a recent earnings call, Netflix’s co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos revealed a few pieces of information about the new tier. According to Deadline, Sarandos has discussed how the ad-supported Netflix subscription plan will be available to users next year, and the company is collaborating with Microsoft on the launch. Sarandos has also confirmed that the ad-supported tier will not provide users with access to Netflix’s entire library. While users will have access to all of the original programs, some licensed content will be inaccessible at the lower tier. He explained: Netflix also stated in a letter to shareholders that the ad-supported tier will first be available in a “handful of markets where advertising spend is significant.” We currently have no information about the upcoming ad-supported plan, but based on the information we have, it does not appear to please everyone.
