Tap the three-dotted menu icon on the top-left corner. #3 Choose the Reboot menu option. #4 Your Chromecast device will restart automatically. #5 While restarting, the latest version of the Chromecast firmware will be downloaded and installed automatically. #6 After the update, you will be able to use the Chromecast device normally.

Update Chromecast using Mac or Linux
#1 Ensure that your Mac or Linux PC and Chromecast device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. #2 Launch the terminal and type the following command without any error. In the place of IP ADDRESS – replace the IP address of your Chromecast. #3 Press the Enter key. The update may take a while. Wait until you receive the “Process Complete” message on the terminal screen. You can know whether the device updating or not by seeing the LED on the device. If it blinks, then your device is busy updating, and the status will be displayed on the Chromecast-connected TV screen.
